„The end of a school year and the beginning of another one is the period when we realize that we are experiencing the most beautiful moments at our Foundation. The period in question is centered around summing up the successes of our students who had received numerous accolades in the process of education thanks to their effort, hard work, and engagement. This year, we are presenting you the eighteen students who are the Hastor Foundation`s pride and joy. These students have come under the spotlight of the Foundation due to their remarkable achievements in the previous school year in which they were the recipients of numerous accolades and awards.“

Ena Bešo

Ena is a recipient of the Hastor Foundation`s scholarship. She comes from the Stolac, and she graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computing, and Electrical Engineering at the University of Mostar. Ena was studying electroenergetics at the Department of Electrical Engineering, after which she graduated with a 5.00 GPA. The icing on the cake were the Dean`s Award and the Golden Plaque Award of the University of Mostar which were received by Ena at the end of her college studies.

„To be a part of the family like the one at the Hastor Foundation is a great honor for me. The fact that there are members of the community who recognize, and truly appreciate the effort we put in educating ourselves motivates me, as a student, even more. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Hastor Foundation, provided that it has, for many years, been contributing to creating a prosperous society by putting education in the first place.“

Maida Husnić

Maida received her Master`s degree diploma at the Faculty of Humanities which is a part of „Džemal Bijedić“ University in Mostar, where she was studying Bosnian language and literature. By finishing her studies, Maida became a Master of the Bosnian language and literature. Her GPA was 10.00, which was the reason why she received the Golden Plaque Award of the Student Union at „Džemal Bijedić“ University in Mostar. Maida was proclaimed the best student of the Faculty of Humanities.

„Recognizing students` successes is always an important segment of motivation and a reason to move forward. A crucial factor on the way to success is being in good surroundings. I was lucky to have been a member of the Hastor Foundation for a few years now, which provided me with an all-encompassing assistance and aid. I celebrate all my achievements with the Foundation in an attempt to make up for all the knowledge, support, motivation, and love that I received from its members. Thanks to volunteering activities with pupils and monthly meetings, I got a chance to meet numerous fellow students from different sides of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to socialize with them, exchange opinions and ideas, and develop personal sets of skills and abilities through working with children. On the other hand, being a part of the editorial board gave me an unforgettable experience, especially if my profession is taken into consideration, but besides that, I also had an amazing time with the colleagues I was working with.“

Adisa Bolić

Adisa, a recipient of the Hastor Foundation`s scholarship, who comes from Bosanski Petrovac, marked her arrival in Sarajevo in the best possible way, i.e., she graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Sarajevo. She was studying at the Department of Theoretical Computer Science, where she achieved a 10.00 GPA. Thanks to this, Adisa received the Golden Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„The Hastor Foundation has helped me enormously in terms of my education, life in general, and especially finances, given that I have been a scholarship recipient ever since I was in the fifth grade of the elementary school. The Foundation made it possible for me to move to Sarajevo, where I had more opportunities concerning my studying and preparations for the mathematics competitions, as well as other school activities, or something in that vein. Activities at the Foundation gave me a chance to meet people with whom I still maintain a good relationship, which I regard as very important.“

Igor Petković

Igor graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Sarajevo, which, at the same time, is the city where he lives. Igor achieved a 9.88 GPA during his college studies. Given his GPA was this high, Igor was awarded the Golden Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„I am thankful for being given an opportunity to be a part of this family, and also for getting a chance to volunteer and do community service. Being engaged in the Foundation`s activities was the first serious engagement in terms of volunteering on my part. I will be led by the values the Foundation taught me throughout my entire life.“

Ajdin Muharemović

Another golden student of our Foundation is Ajdin, who comes from Zenica. This recipient of our scholarship got a degree at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics which is a part of the University of Sarajevo. Ajdin was studying theoretical computer science at the Department of Mathematics, where he had a GPA of 9.71 which was more than enough for the Golden Badge Award of The University of Sarajevo.

„Besides financial support which I received in the form of a scholarship, the Foundation is of great importance to me, provided that I have established a network of new friends and acquaintances as a result of my engagement in volunteering activities. I believe that the network will help me in the future, not just with my social plans, but in terms of my professional career, as well.“

Amra Dedić

Our scholarship recipient Amra Dedić deservedly received the Dean Charter Award, for she was proclaimed the best student of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zenica, thanks to her 10.00 GPA which she achieved in the last school year. Amra especially points to the importance of volunteering by saying:

„One can realize what some truly significant values of life are through volunteering at the Foundation. I am sure that everybody learns how important it is to contribute to one`s own community, as well as to help others, and that it is possible for us to achieve a great goal by doing small good deeds. A thing that is important to me is that I have realized that everybody can teach me something. By working with young people, I tried to take with myself what is most beautiful in each of them, but I also tried to teach them what I assumed would be important in their future lives. I learned how to listen, and, then, when I had done so, I succeeded at recognizing an idea, a value, and a talent that all those young people carry within themselves.“

Ana Milijević

Ana is another one of our scholarship recipients. She successfully graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, where she was studying at the Department of Painting. Her GPA was 9.56, which is the reason why she is a proud recipient of the Golden Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„I believe that every piece of our creation is rooted in our everyday lives. With this in mind, there is much more to my being rewarded with the Golden Badge, besides the fact that I had invested years of effort so as to achieve it. Two years ago, I won a scholarship of the Hastor Foundation which gave me an insight into how important education is. Besides that, I got a chance to experience something which is actually far more important, and that is the love and sacrifice for the new friends, monthly meetings, and volunteering activities. Nowadays, the word „virus“ is popular. In this vein, I will use this chance to refer to that word in a different manner, i.e., due to all the activities from the above, we have all become „infected“ with the virus of benevolence. I truly hope that that will be the only virus living inside of us, which we will never get rid of.“

Kemil Bekteši

Kemil Bekteši, a scholarship recipient who lives in Sarajevo, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, where he was studying at the Department of Painting. During his studies, he achieved a 9.54 GPA, because of which he was rewarded with the Golden Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„Like I said many times before now, the Hastor Foundation is an excellent place for all the young and ambitious people. I believe that it is highly important for all the youth to be in the surroundings of the ones from whom they will receive support. The Hastor Foundation, as well as its volunteers, has always been full of all the necessary support which is needed by all of us, especially now, when we have found ourselves in so strange a period. Speaking of important lessons, the Foundation taught me that hard work, effort, and commitment will always pay off.“

Aldijana Zukić

Aldijana Zukić is a scholarship recipient of the Foundation who comes from the City of Mostar. Thanks to her success in the last school year, she has found herself among the ten best students of the Faculty of Law at „Džemal Bijedić“ University located in Mostar. In this vein, she was awarded the Dean`s Award.

„I have been a member of the Hastor Foundation for three years now. In that period, I managed to meet a plethora of people, as well as to make new friends. Even though I had supposed that the Foundation would provide me only with the financial aid at the beginning, I realized that the opposite was true as soon as I attended my first monthly meeting. I saw that I had become a member of yet another family on which I can count all the time. Being engaged in volunteering activities enabled me to learn a plenty of things and master new skills I had not possessed previously. I want to help others in a way in the future, for I could see how important are help and support of other people. I am thankful for that; and it goes without saying that I am very much honored to be a member of this family, which I do not miss a chance to mention on every occasion.“

Kenan Kraković

Kenan Kraković can proudly talk about his own successes in various fields. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the International Burch University in Sarajevo, where he was studying at the Department of Genetics and Bioengineering. Thanks to his outstanding results, Kenan was proclaimed the best student at the level of the university in the generation of students who graduated that year.

„I became a scholarship recipient of the Foundation back in 2018. With the financial help of the Foundation and the help of its members, I managed to focus on my studies, the fact which led me to achieving all the goals which I had planned to achieve before the end of my college studies. I was chosen to take part in one of the biggest research projects in the world regarding my field of inquiry, I established a completely new laboratory at my faculty, won all the scholarships for the Master`s degree I had applied for, and, now, I have been proclaimed the best student in my generation at the level of the University I was studying at. None of those things would be possible, if I had to go to work on a daily basis, thus, thanks to the Foundation, I was given an opportunity to focus on achieving my academic goals. This said, I will be forever grateful and will feel obliged to justify the support I received by achieving things the Foundation could be proud of.“

Nedžma Salkić

Our scholarship recipient, Nedžma Salkić, was awarded the Dean`s Award for her remarkable success in the last school year, given that she was one of the best students of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zenica.

„During the entire period of my college studies, I was attempting to achieve more, which included learning all the new economic terms, occurrences, laws, and theories. Besides mandatory books, I was also reading some additional books which are related to economics with the aim of expanding my knowledge. My efforts bore fruit after the first year already, for, besides excellent grades, I also became a scholarship recipient of the Hastor Foundation. I have been receiving the scholarship for a year now, which also means that I am a member of a big family, the family which provides me with all the help and support, and which encourages me to become the best version of myself. Thanks to the Foundation itself, I have become richer, for I have made new friends, gained new experiences, and learned new skills. Besides that, volunteering activities at the Foundation made me realize how important volunteering really is, and, also made me see in what ways the youth can change the world.“

Alek Isaković

Alek graduated from the Academy of Music at the University of Sarajevo. At the Academy, he was studying the Orchestral Conducting, which is a part of the Department of Conducting. The crown of his college studies was the Golden Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo, provided that Alek had a GPA of 9.53 while at the Academy.

„I believe that our Foundation encourages the people who feel the urge to tackle the negative aspects of the contemporary society and who try to have their voice heard, with the aim of using that voice so as to change something. I want to use this opportunity in order to say that I was extremely honored to have become a member of the Hastor Foundation’s big family in January last year, for the Foundation gives us numerous chances and possibilities to make progress of every sort. By saying this, I am least referring to the financial aid, even though the Foundation deserves a huge appreciation regarding this segment alone, but I would rather refer to the gatherings organized by the Foundation (which, unfortunately, have not taken place in person for months now due to the epidemic) which teach the scholarship recipients (the members of the Foundation) to become better people for, both, the community and themselves.“

Amina Vatreš

Amina is our dear member who comes from Sarajevo. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, where she was studying at the Department of Communicology. Amina received the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo two times, one for each cycle of college studies (the first and the second cycle). Based on her 9.79 GPA in the second cycle of college studies (Master`s degree program), Amina was proclaimed the most successful Master of Communicology. She was a member of the Foundation for thirteen years, where she portrayed her skills by being a member of the editorial board.

„To have the Hastor Foundation as a thing to lean on in the processes of complex education, growing up, and consequently, in the process of maturing as a person was truly a great honor and privilege, but, at the same time, also a huge responsibility. From the very beginning, I identified my status as a scholarship recipient with the role of being an ambassador of all the crucial values which have been promoted, nourished, and taught in all these years of the Foundation`s progressive engagement. My strong connection with the Foundation could be described as follows: In these thirteen years that I have been a part of it, both of us were growing and developing together. By following and supporting all my achievements in the domain of the formal education – ever since I was in the elementary school and all the way to the higher education – the Foundation was regarded as one of the most significant elements of my great ambition and willingness to succeed, thus it is also an important part of my final success in the domain of higher education.“

Almedina Numić

Almedina comes from Ilijaš. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, where she was studying at the Department of English Language and Literature. After finishing the second cycle of her college studies, Almedina`s GPA was 9.76, which meant that our dear member would be a recipient of the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„I suppose that the Hastor Foundation is among the very few organizations which have stayed devoted to its original mission, vision, and goals, thus, that is precisely the thing which makes it special. I was extremely honored to have had a chance to call myself a recipient of our Foundation`s scholarship, as well as to move forward, along with the Foundation, towards making our society better. It is very difficult to express my gratitude for all that which I learned at the Foundation in a few sentences, hence I have no other choice but to express that gratitude through my good deeds which will contribute to the way in which the Foundation works, as well as to its influence on our society. In that sense, this achievement of mine is the first step in regards to it. I wish many years of successful and benevolent work to the Foundation, from the bottom of my heart.“

Amar Halilović

Amar is a scholarship recipient who lives in Sarajevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo, where he was studying automation and electronics. His GPA after two cycles of college studies was 9.38, the fact which made Amar a recipient of the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo two times, i.e., after, both, the first and the second cycles of studies.

„Besides providing financial support, the Hastor Foundation gives young people a great opportunity for the personal growth and education. Work and engagement at the Hastor Foundation created a firm base which paves the way for opening new horizons that will be reached by the scholarship recipients who will have a positive impact on their community and, also, on Bosnia and Herzegovina, by practicing volunteering activities along with the other members of the Hastor Foundation. The period of four years in which I have been a recipient of the Foundation`s scholarship has made me improve my social, volunteering, and organizational skills. Besides that, I have made a plenty of new friends and acquaintances, and the experience that I gained here will surely be of great use to me in the future. These are the reasons why I am so much grateful to the Foundation.“

Adnan Hatibović

Another one of our scholarship recipients, Adnan, who comes from Sarajevo, was deservedly awarded the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo. Adnan graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo, where he was studying sociology. He achieved a 9.35 GPA after the two cycles of college studies.

„The financial aspect was the first one which proved the importance and support on behalf of the Foundation. In this way were my everyday activities, as well as education, made easier, for a huge burden was taken off my family`s budget. However, mentioning this benefit only would mean pointing out only a segment of the whole array, i.e., focusing just on the part regarding financial support would exclude multiple dimensions of personal growth that I went through thanks to my being a member of the Foundation. Working with pupils helped me develop my pedagogical skills, whereas being engaged in the volunteering activities as a member of the administration team gave me a chance to expand my knowledge and skills regarding the domain of organization at work. Some additional activities I was a part of enabled me to reflect on my own competences and potential, to become more self-confident, make new friends, as well as to experience a variety of positive things. By and large, I was given a chance to establish interpersonal relationships, spend some quality time with other people and work on my own gregariousness. If I were to put all of this into one sentence, I would say that the Hastor Foundation paved the way for the additional personal growth, noticing one`s own drawbacks, overcoming the hurdles standing before us, and leaving additional space so as to make one`s own personality complete.“

Lamija Vrnjak

Lamija comes from Sarajevo. She graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Sarajevo, where she was studying at the Department of Computing and Informatics. She achieved a 9.16 GPA, which enabled Lamija to become a recipient of the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„I have been a recipient of the Hastor Foundation`s scholarship ever since I was at the first year of my college studies. The Foundation has supported me very much throughout these three years, and I have always known that I have somebody to lean on. Besides that, the Foundation has always celebrated my successes with me, and motivated me to make progress. It really is an amazing feeling to know that there is someone, besides my closest relatives, who supports me so much. Volunteering was a cure for my soul, and a way for me to stay down-to-earth, as well as to contribute to the community. I proudly say that I am a member of the Foundation, and that the Foundation itself helped me greatly on my way to success.“

Lajla Leko

Lajla is a recipient of the Foundation`s scholarship who comes from Travnik. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, where she was studying international relations and diplomacy at the Department of Politology. Lajla had a GPA of 9.00, which was the fact that made her a recipient of the Silver Badge Award of the University of Sarajevo.

„I could always heavily rely on the Foundation, especially in terms of my education, provided that I am still educating myself. Oftentimes, I remind myself how lucky I am to be a part of the Foundation, and also for being chosen to become a member of this family. Too, the fact that the Foundation`s members are all excellent students, pupils, as well as good people provides me with additional motivation and makes me very happy. I have met a plethora of good people at the Foundation. Thanks to the Foundation, I started a new chapter in my life, which, otherwise, might not have been started. I will be forever grateful to the Foundation for being by my side, and I hope that I am succeeding at justifying their believing in me.“

While being proud of the results thus far, we are, nevertheless, very much looking forward to new challenges and endeavors on behalf of our students. We wish our students the best of luck from the bottom of our hearts on their way to tackling those challenges and endeavors.
