“True universality does not consist in knowing much but in loving much.” – Jacob Burckhardt

The purpose of true universality is not to know a lot of information on various topics, but to approach what we do with true love. An example of this is the Hastor Foundation scholarship holder Aldina Hadžić, who received the flattering title of Scholarship holder of the Month. Aldina was born in Travnik in 1999, and completed her primary and secondary education in Jajce. As she points out, Aldina’s love for law was born in high school, so she continued her university education at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo, successfully graduating and receiving a BA degree in law in 2021. Our Aldina is currently in the second cycle of studies at the Department of Legal and Economic Sciences.

She has been a scholarship holder of the Hastor Foundation for eleven years. She points out that through many years of experience as a scholarship holder and through volunteer work with the youngest scholarship holders in the past five years, she has gained many acquaintances, experiences and skills, which she believes will be extremely important in her future life and work. Aldina emphasizes that in addition to faculty and its obligations, it is important to set aside your time to help those in need. She regularly tries to be an example by implementing this principle through volunteer work in the local community, where she implemented ideas on environmental protection and assistance to the elderly. In addition, she provided instruction in school subjects for students. When it comes to certain affinities, Aldina especially emphasizes her love for nature, so ideas such as planting trees, removing waste and protecting plant species are what she often does in her free time. In addition, in her free time she likes to play volleyball, and has been writing poetry since elementary school. In this way, Aldina embodies the idea of versatility and from an early age advocates the need for different interests and orientations, to be as successful as possible and offer the world the best version of herself.

Our Aldina is also interested in modern technologies and believes that in the 21st century it is imperative to keep up with the times and be familiar with the modern achievements. That is why, whenever she has the opportunity, she attends courses and learns about creative, efficient, and safe use of technology. One of the courses that Aldina especially pointed out, and which she successfully completed is about cyber security. This topic is especially important and interesting for her and she is happy to include it as an additional topic when she volunteers with her mentoring group.

Aldina’s love for poetry has resulted in her participation in numerous poetry competitions, and she participated in one with the following:

Esma Sultana

When Sultana Esma got ill

She began to seek a cure for her pain

That is why she turned to many astrologers

To find the right cure to relieve the pain.

Three habous were her medicine

Two bridges and one mosque

Where you hate, love and pray

And where rivers embrace

The sultana obeyed all the advice

She sold her jewellery for that

To build habous in the city of Jajce

And do good deeds to heal.

All her habous was built

She healed and overcame the vicious disease.

And when she left the world in old age

She left us her possessions to keep safe

About the role of the Hastor Foundation during her education and life in general, Aldina says:

The role of the Hastor Foundation in my life and education is immeasurable. In addition to financial support, moral support and volunteer work were especially important. As a member of this large family, I had the opportunity to attend lectures by successful people during monthly meetings and to meet many young and educated people from our country. All this was a wind in the back to achieve the best possible results in all segments of education and volunteer work. Inspirational stories and new friendships are what will leave an eternal mark of Foundation in my life.
