The series of years of successful work that stands behind the name of the Hastor Foundation is testimony that only a noble intention can build a lasting story. Throughout all these years, the Hastor Foundation has shown that its story is exactly that – lasting and long-lived, persistent in its aspiration to create and ensure a safe and motivating environment for many young people. We are quite sure that it is no coincidence that the first lines of her story were written in April – the month of awakening and hope, in spring – the time of new beginnings. The Hastor Foundation has been exactly that from its first, until its seventeenth year – hope and a new beginning. This April we are celebrating 17 years of our story, 17 years of existence of a permanent organization whose foundations have not been shaken by time but strengthened.
Year after year, our story is enriched and expanded by new heroes. We are proud of the fact that the Hastor Foundation has achieved impressive numbers through seventeen years of continuous support for children and young people. In these 17 years, more than 1,700,000 volunteer hours have been spent, many successes, made friendships, beautiful memories, smiles and realized dreams. All these pages were written by the young people of this country, theirs were the hours of volunteering and helping others, theirs were the successes and smiles and theirs were the fulfilled dreams. The Hastor Foundation has been growing for seventeen years because of the humanity, joy, kindness and success of those young people who have passed and are still passing through it as its scholarship recipients. That’s why we look forward to all the pages we have yet to print.
In our country, smaller towns are often neglected and children from less developed municipalities get fewer opportunities to show their skills and knowledge. The Hastor Foundation made an effort to break down the wall that stood as an obstacle for these children by actively cooperating with more than 135 municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. By tearing down those walls and providing equal opportunities to young people from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Hastor Foundation has become a symbol of diversity that, united in their diversity, writes this extraordinary story.
Throughout these 17 years, the Hastor Foundation has produced many successful people. They are living examples of the quality of everything the Foundation is and everything it does, and with their achievements they show every day that volunteer work has strengthened their will, desire, but also their sense of humanity and progress in all fields. All our scholarship recipients have contributed to the progress of the community with their individual progress and have become an inspiration to their environment.
The anniversary of the Hastor Foundation, for 17 years in a row, represents the anniversary of all those who wrote their lines in its story, all those because of whom it still provides the opportunity for young people to write their lines in that story. Throughout all these years, the Foundation has been and will certainly be the source of hope for the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their path and way to progress. We are now closing our seventeenth page and together with great pride we are opening another one, ready for all new successes, joys and fulfilled dreams.
