“Man’s greatest desire in life is to have someone by his side who will inspire him to achieve what he is capable of.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates the success of brilliant students who, after more than 30 years, bring home three gold medals from the International Mathematical Olympiad. In addition to the gold ones, the successful students bring one silver and two bronze medals, which is the first time that all students at this major competition have been awarded medals.
All this is the result of diligence and dedication of talented students, but also of real leadership. Among the mentors of the team that made Bosnia and Herzegovina endlessly proud was Adisa Bolić, a former scholarship recipient of the Hastor Foundation.
Our Adisa does not hide the pride she feels after the great success with her students:
As the leader of this great team, I feel very proud. The result they achieved is truly incredible. As I myself was a competitor and participant in the Olympics, I know how difficult it is to win any medal, let alone a silver or gold medal (which was not even thought about among the participants from our country while I was competing). Even the silver medal was a big concept back then, because it rarely happened that a competitor from Bosnia and Herzegovina won it. However, in the last 3 years we have won as many as 5 silver medals, and this year even 3 gold medals, which are also the first ever for our country at this Olympics, so it is really difficult to describe in words how we all feel contributed in any way to this result.
The Hastor Foundation is extremely proud of alumni Adisa, who is true proof that talented students from Bosnia and Herzegovina just need the right guidance, once again confirming that Education is the winner’s choice.
