Despite the pandemic, the Hastor Foundation`s scholarship holders have succeeded in many things and have made our family proud by doing so. One of them is Jusuf Bećirović, a student at the Technical High School Bugojno. Besides being a straight A student, Jusuf always finds additional time for his hobbies and extracurricular activities. He states that he feels lucky that programming and playing video games are his favourite hobbies, so he gladly accepts all invitations for taking part in IT competitions.
A municipal computer science competition was organized recently, and the students attending two high schools in Bugojno took part in the competition. It is worth mentioning that this event was the first one of its kind in the area to have actually taken place in a school venue (instead of taking place online) ever since the pandemic started. Jusuf won the first place in the category of programming, as well as the third place in the category of MS Office. His team also won the first place in the team category which tested participants` general knowledge regarding computer science and digital competences.
The competition was very interesting, and I had a lot of fun, especially since I got a chance to be with my classmates for the first time in a while.
Once he graduates from high school, Jusuf’s goal is to enrol in the Faculty of Information Technologies at the Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar, and to completely devote himself to studying computer science and becoming a professional programmer.
Jusuf, who has been a scholarship holder for two years now, points out that he is extremely grateful to the Foundation.
The Hastor Foundation has provided me with a lot of financial and moral support. I am very happy to know that there are people who believe in me, as well as in other young people living in my country.
We want Jusuf to continue being successful during his studies and to become a role model for other young people in his environment. Through such achievements, Jusuf and other scholarship holders show that all the effort and hard work become worth it once the desired goal has been achieved. There is no doubt that Jusuf is the pride and joy of his school, his town, as well as the Hastor Foundation that supports its scholarship holders` efforts and positive stories every single day.
