Volunteering ennobles people, it points out the benefits of helping others and the fact that people can make a positive change in society even with small deeds. Each step we take should be a step towards a brighter future. The Foundation’s scholarship holders volunteer in various ways. First of all, there are meetings that mentors organize with primary and high school students where they work on educational subjects in a creative manner.
Since the coronavirus pandemic has limited the possibilities of travel, our scholarship holders have been volunteering in their local communities, picking the best ways to do so in accordance with the epidemiological measures. Some scholarship holders are members of various organizations where they also volunteer. One such student is Ilhana Čaušević from Gornji Vakuf. She’s 18 years old, and she graduated from the Mixed Secondary School Gornji Vakuf – medical school. She plans to continue her studies at the Faculty of Health Studies in Sarajevo. Since the second grade of high school, Ilhana has been a member of the Association of Secondary School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASuBiH) within which she participated in various projects together with other high school students.
We held meetings in some peaceful places where we decided what to do next. It brought me special joy. We had projects of cleaning some picnic areas, a high-school evening, several competitions, and we organized camps at various locations.
Besides this, Ilhana is also a participant in many other workshops. Some of them are “SMART’Y“, “Toxic Masculinity“ te “Movie Q”. The workshops were accompanied by various activities. Ilhana points out that the workshops are interesting because, besides the fun part, everyone learns something and they do something useful for the community at the same time. They were putting up the board for the Ždrimac waterfall, they cleaned, and they installed trash containers. Educational lectures were held within the workshops, and the lecturers shared various experiences.
Ilhana has been a Foundation scholarship holder for four years, and during this period she met other young people in the Foundation and made nice experiences and friendships.
Being a part of the Foundation is truly a wonderful experience for me. I love volunteering together with others because I get to meet my company. Thanks to the Foundation for the support it provides!
We hope that Ilhana will be even more successful in her further education, and we wish her all the best in that.
