Many students are forced to move during their studies. That is often a distraction, but our scholarship holders prove that this can also serve a motivation for further advancement in a new environment. Adnan Plaćo is a young man from Donji Vakuf, and a first-year student of Jakov Gotovac High School of Music in Novi Travnik. During this schoolyear, he was forced to take a big step forward and move to Novi Travnik.
Adnan is an excellent student. He plays the guitar and the piano. He went to elementary music school for six years, and he also attended the preparatory year for entering high school. He has also been interested in sports since his younger years, and considers both music and sports big parts of his personality. As a child he practiced playing football and dreamed of becoming a big star, like most of his colleagues. With time however, this changed. Handball became a more important part of his life and, after spending a lot of his free time practicing, he finally joined the “Donji Vakuf” handball club. Aside from his school-related obligations, Adnan always found time for sports. As the club advanced, our dear scholarship holder put in the time and effort to become better and better in his favorite sport. Within just two years, his skill and results were already showing.
After five years of training with the club, I joined the senior team. Throughout that period, we won cantonal leagues, gold medals, and even qualified for the state-level league two times. On May 30th of this year, the final qualifiers for the state-level league were held in Zavidovići with four different teams from all around Bosnia and Herzegovina. We won the bronze medal, and that is something we are very proud of.
The medals that they won left a noticeably stronger will, strength and desire for success in the hearts of these players. Aside from the support of his loved ones and his team, Adnan has always felt the support of the Hastor Foundation. He notes that his mentors were always there when he needed their help and that he is immensely proud to be a part of the Hastor Foundation.
Our college students are always trying to help their younger colleagues from high schools and primary schools balance their school obligations with extracurricular activities. Adnan’s story serves as a proof that our students have been very successful in providing their help.
