Scholarship holder Semina Sadiković is currently studying at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, Department of Comparative Literature and Information Science. In her free time, she is involved in acting and, therefore, the theater is one of her fields of interest. According to her, she found the foundation for the fulfillment of her dreams on the stage where she read her poetry.
Each time I traveled with my ensemble, my poetry also traveled to new embraces.
She says that the book was written in poetry, and she wrote the first verses in high school. The book is called Midnight Thoughts and she believes that it was her sincere discovery of herself at certain hours. As for inspiration, Semina thinks and points out that motivation, as well as the need for it, is always present.
Inspiration finds a way to our emotions.
She points out that she had the support of her city of Bugojno, her parents, and friends during the process of publishing the book, and she believes that people are happily supporting young people in their ideas and their realization. The turning point happened on a trip with the ensemble to Novi Grad, where a poetry evening was organized for her.
When I saw people reading my poetry with a great deal of enthusiasm, I knew my written word would see the light of day.
Since Midnight Thoughts is Semina’s first book, she also points out that mutual trust and a small dose of patience were needed, but the stars quickly aligned. She decided to publish the book in cooperation with the theater, and having in mind her connection with them, it is not surprising that, as she states for our editorial office, she wanted them to play a significant role in the process of publishing the book.
Still, being a writer and a poet is not easy, Semina reveals to us that feelings of happiness, excitement and fear are intertwined. She says that she writes every day, but only a small part of her words will reach the readers because she still finds a special charm in the poetry she leaves for herself.
I would like to tell all young non-established writers/poets that the written word should them through everyday life because, in the end, everything comes down to the same thing; what we feel, and these feelings build us as people.
