We can agree that physics is one of the most demanding sciences because it deals with the mathematical description of various physical laws observed in nature. Everything in nature is based on theories, and these theories are tested by experiments. Due to its complexity, a very small number of people work in physics worldwide, and that is why our foundation can boast of having a talented young scholarship holder in its family circle for whom physics has become a lifelong vocation.

This academic year, Majra Šišić is enrolling in the fourth year of physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo.

I have loved physics since my earliest days and I have already achieved success in various competitions and activities through primary and secondary school. I continued to spread this love and pass it on to students through various physics schools that I often organize for primary and secondary school students, but also through mentoring for competitions where our students represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Balkan, European and international levels.

Majra became part of the Hastor Foundation in February this year:

We won a gold and a bronze medal, as well as two accolades. This is a very significant success for the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, considering that this is only the second gold medal for our country from a physics competition. I organized and held a qualifying competition for the team selection and, after that, I worked diligently for a few weeks with the selected team of students. The effort went well and we achieved good results.

In December, Majra will lead the team that will represent Sarajevo at the International Metropolitan Olympics, where all European capitals participate. In addition to the competition, Majra is continuously engaged as a lecturer at various camps and schools of physics that are most often organized by the Society of Physicists in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are intended for all elementary and high school students who love physics and want to know more than what is taught in schools. Last summer, the Summer Camp of Physics was held, where our scholarship holder was in the organizational team and also had the role of a lecturer.

However, successes and plans don’t stop there, because ambition is what makes successful people. In the last third of the current year, Majra plans to start a school of physics that would have a somewhat more permanent character, and all her goals and achievements will be closely monitored by the Hastor Foundation. Because of that, we can already say that this will certainly not be the last time that the editorial board of our foundation will write about the talented Maira.
