The Hastor Foundation can boast of diligent, ambitious, and successful scholarship holders who achieve notable results in the fields of education and science. The Foundation’s team consists of young people who contribute to its work, improving it with their knowledge and skills. It is precisely these values and commitment to volunteer engagement within the Hastor Foundation that give scholarship holders the title of Scholarship Holder of the Month. Read below about the scholarship holder who won the title this month!

Our dear scholarship holder, Selma Omerović, was born and grew up in Sarajevo, and is 22 years old. Upon finishing the elementary school, she enrolled in the High School of Commerce and Business Administration. As she had already encountered the important scientific discipline of economics during her secondary education, she decided to follow the same path. Selma is currently a third-year student at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sarajevo, where she is studying at the Department of Management, which has provided her with a possibility to develop and improve more in the field of economics. Selma’s continuous effort and hard work in various activities have enabled her to be the Hastor Foundation’s scholarship holder for over ten years now, and for us to introduce her as the scholarship holder of this month.

Selma joined the Hastor Foundation as a pupil in elementary school; and in that period already, she met her mentors who were giving her continuous and important support. Over time, she became a mentor to other children, and realized the importance of mutual assistance and philanthropy. Philanthropy, which is the primary feature of the Hastor Foundation, became the path for Selma to follow in her future work and development. For the past year, Selma has been a diligent member of the Hastor Foundation’s protocol team. Her value and dedication are shown by the fact that Selma often volunteers for longer than originally planned, so that all mail that arrives at our address is properly stored in the protocol. The Foundation has given her space and a possibility to practically improve the knowledge and skills acquired at her faculty, something which means a lot to her.

Selma spends her leisure time engaging in useful activities with the aim of actively and thoroughly upgrading her knowledge. She has finished courses in English language and understands and speaks the language fluently. She also enjoys socializing with friends, reading books and expanding her horizons by travelling to various destinations. She points out that the way she uses her leisure time makes her richer as a person, and that she likes familiarizing herself with a new culture, tradition, or customs and languages.

When the role of the Hastor Foundation in her education and self-development is in question, Selma emphasized that the Hastor Foundation is her second home:

The Hastor Foundation has always been my unconditional support, motivation, and someone to keep my back. It is because of the Foundation that I have never been without pocket money, and that is the place where I have met many wonderful people whom I regard as my family. I met my best friend through volunteering. Besides financial support, the Foundation offers us further training and development; so, I will forever be grateful for all the support it has given to us.

We hope that Selma will continue walking on the path to success, and that she will make the Hastor Foundation proud in her future endeavors, as well. We wish her the best of luck in her future work and education!
