The 20th Junior Mathematical Olympiad took place in Slatina, Romania, from June, 24th till June, 29. Young Bosnian-Herzegovinian mathematicians won four bronze medals. Their leader was our scholar Adnan Ibric, a third-year student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Tuzla, Department of Mathematics.
Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad is a competition of the Balkan countries for the elementary school students to 15 years. Its aim is to develop a competitive spirit and encourage students who posess the gift for mathematics to work more on themselves. Six students from Bosnia and Herzegovina took part in this competition. Four of them won bronze medals. Adnan, together with two professors was a leader of this team.
During his schooling at Lukavac Gymnasium, he won many awards at Maths competitions, from which he points out the 1st place at National Maths Competition, the Bronze medal at the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, and the bronze medal at the International Mathematical High School Olympiad. He also took part in commissions on cantonal and federal competitions. Apart from mentioned facts, he is a math instructor to students and high school pupils and also prepares them for various competitions.
