We live in a country with plenty of natural resources. We admire nature in various ways, and most of all, we admire a clean, unpolluted environment. The Hastor Foundation scholarship holders have a chance to participate in various environmental programs through volunteering in the local community, or they can launch such initiatives themselves, which is a very common occurrence.
This time, we bring a slightly different story about the care for the environment. Our scholarship holder Tatjana Tešić has participated in an international scientific conference “East or South Interconnection – Politics or Economy”. This conference, that deals with various current topics, was held for the tenth time, and this year included a session about the gas pipeline that needs to pass through our country’s territory. Under the mentorship of professor Mirko Dobrnjac, with the colleague Tatjana Kovačević, Tatjana held a presentation “Natural Gas as the Eco-Friendly Energy Source”.
The goal of the presentation was to point out the pros and cons of natural gas. Through their presentations, both colleagues did their best to explain the way gas pipelines are structured. We have no doubts that they did it in the best way possible.
Tatjana is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka, where she also graduated from the Technical School as the top student of her generation. She’s from Prnjavor, and she’s been a Hastor Foundation scholarship holder for 6 years, since the third year of high school. During her free time, she likes to read books by our famous writers, she enjoys long walks and visiting not-so-well-known touristic destinations in our country as she feels that it’s a way of contributing towards the strengthening of domestic tourism. Throughout these activities, Tatjana also notices her personal progress. Also, she supports environmental activities, most often by participating directly, and the fact that she adopts neglected cats and dogs speaks best about nature being her lifestyle.
She speaks about the Hastor Foundation as the force behind her activism in the sense of investing in her community:
The Hastor Foundation is a great support and backbone for everything I do. I’m so glad to have had the privilege of becoming a member of such a great family where I met wonderful people, made new friends, learned how a group can benefit society in more ways than a single person can. I also learned how to help the weaker without expecting anything in return, just like the Foundation teaches us. By making progress in this way, as a group, we’ll also make progress as individuals with the goal of changing the society we live in. In my case, the Foundation is the one that propelled something that’s inside each and every one of us, something that is the most important thing to achieve in life, and that is to be a human being!
It’s not unusual that the Foundation’s scholarship holders stand out in all sorts of ways. The Foundation has its postulates that help build the scholarship holders’ personalities in each aspect. We hope that Tatjana’s example will lead others as well.
