How many times have you thought that something is unattainable, far from you and your environment? We are sure that you have thought that for a large number of occasions, situations or just wishes. But we are here to prove to you that impossible is just a word.
Our guest in the second episode of the Podcast, Kenan Kraković, master’s degree in innovative medicine, has reached the desired Harvard and is already ready for his doctorate in Lausanne.
Our young scientist, among other things, explained the concept and essence of innovative medicine and gave an answer to the question why the wine fly is an exemplary model for genetic research. Kenan had the opportunity to stay at different universities throughout Europe during his scientific training. Nevertheless, Harvard is a special experience, and we were interested in what an interview at Harvard looks like:
My interview at Harvard was specific. I did not apply to any program. I applied to do my thesis at Harvard. The interview was quite relaxed. We had an open conversation about science, research and how I can contribute to all of this. Since then, I have made sure that every subsequent interview I have is the same.
The conversation also brought Kenan back to the days when he was a scholarship holder of the Hastor Foundation, where, as he tells us, he had special memories of monthly meetings with the students he mentored:
The Hastor Foundation is a law. A huge network of fantastic people – that is the greatest value that the Hastor Foundation has. I remember how I thought about the children I volunteered with, that these are promising children, that they will do great things in the future, and now I had the opportunity to talk to him, to show them something. It was a wonderful experience for me.
Our interlocutor is proof that there are no limits if you are excellent in your fields. You are welcome everywhere.
Knowledge is the winner’s choice. Whenever you struggle with something, the only thing you have is you, your knowledge and your close people, says Kenan Kraković.
