The alumni club of the Hastor Foundation is full of extremely successful young people who create their careers following the mission of the Hastor Foundation. One such example is a guest in the new episode of the Hastor Foundation Podcast.

Đenan Macić is the director of the Business Center of Sarajevo Sparkasse Bank and a former scholarship holder of the Hastor Foundation, whose career path testifies that education and respect for true life values truly overcome any obstacle. Our guest spoke about the beginning of his career and compared himself when entering the labor market and those who need to step into the business world today:

I can tell you that young people in 2011 and 2024 are very different. I mean, they are not the same generation at all, even though they are, realistically, the same age, Đenan was 24 in 2011 at an interview as someone now in 2024, but the concept of work then and now is totally different. In 2011, I wanted anyone to give me a chance, at any price, just to finally start working and for someone to give me a chance to study. Today, young people want everything immediately. On the one hand, I understand them because the needs of today’s people in the world are extremely great and everyone wants to secure an apartment and a vehicle immediately, however, the expectations they have are far higher than my generation had.

We also asked Đenan what the skills of quality bankers are:

You can only be a successful banker, in my opinion, if you invest in yourself in the long term, give timely feedback to the client, no matter what that information is, even negative information for the client at a certain moment in his business can be great information if it is communicated to the client in time. You have to be creative in the context that you have to know a really large number of activities that the client is engaged in, get into the core of every business, know that matter and how it is realized in practice.

Banking, like most sectors today, faces numerous challenges of modern times, but due to the accelerated process of digitalization, there are many predictions that there will be a reduction in the workforce in the banking sector, whose jobs will be ended by digitalization. Our guest explains that the challenge is huge, but also that digitization without people has no purpose:

Digitization is necessary, it is something we cannot do without today. The fact is that without people, digitization in itself has no purpose, yet again in certain segments of the banking business it is necessary for us to talk face to face to solve certain things and client requests so that in combination with that commitment to the market of bankers and digitization, I think that this is the key to success and some future of more adequate operations of all companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
