Our guest in the new episode of the Hastor Foundation Podcast, Sanel Delić, brought us closer to what the combination of architecture and IT looks like. Sanel is a Master of Architecture who today works in the IT sector and successfully combines these two activities.
Although it seems incompatible, Sanel reveals to us that with effort and hard work, it is possible to connect these two activities. In an ideal world, this combination represents the use of new technologies in architecture. However, Bosnia and Herzegovina still needs time to reach that connection. Nevertheless, progress is evident:
One of the biggest problems is the lack of money in the industry itself and thus the lack of investment in trends and new technologies. It is necessary to invest a lot of time in the software itself, in the tools themselves. Second, it is necessary to invest in educating the staff. There are very few of them who will learn something independently, invest their time to master it. Recently, there has been more investment in the education of both students and professional staff.
And when we talk about progress and learning, it is inevitable to look back at the students and the knowledge they have and the opportunities for new ones. Sanel explains that progress is also evident in that segment, unlike the period when he studied:
We are actively working to introduce new technologies into the elective curriculum and to train students immediately so that when they enter the labor market tomorrow, they will be immediately ready. It is very commendable that this change comes from within the university, faculty.
The application of the Hastor Foundation records over 350,000 volunteer hours and over 12,000 submitted reports on volunteering. All this became possible thanks to our Sanel, who followed the growth of the Hastor Foundation:
The idea started out of necessity. I was a member of the administrative team at the time. We received hundreds of emails every day. It became very complex because the number of scholarship recipients grew day by day. That’s when we came up with the idea to create an application that would improve our process.
