When we talk about the media and work in the media, the first thing that comes to our mind is glitz, events, famous people, make-up… but behind the cameras, things are a little different. Our guest, experienced journalist and presenter Belma Zukić Ligata, told us in more detail what is hidden behind the work of a presenter and journalist, who explains to us why the job of a presenter is challenging and responsible:
Oftentimes, people think that leadership is a very simple job. There is a lot behind the management job that cannot be seen, but it all depends on the type of engagement. If someone is hired to do only management work, then just come and lead, however, there is also a need for preparation. He must familiarize himself with everything he says, what he presents. You cannot sit in the studio and not know what you are presenting about. Something can always go wrong and the leader has to get out of the situation, which is rarely seen. Sometimes there is a break in the direction, and the presenter is ready to bring it up and nothing that went wrong there is visible.
From an ambitious girl from Stolac to today, a recognizable TV face for many, the path was not at all easy for Belma and her life circumstances. Nevertheless, the former scholarship recipient of the Hastor Foundation overcomes all life’s obstacles and lives her dreams today:
Those people who are very close to me knew how much effort was put into me, first of all, to finish my education and only then to start working, because I come from a family with three children, and my mother is a single mother. My father passed away, unfortunately, in 2001. Imagine a woman who is left with three children at the age of 39 and wants to lead her children on the right path. Nevertheless, in all of this, even though we lived very hard, it may have been a difficult life in that period, but it was also a support, a strength, because maybe all that I have today and what kind of person I am today, maybe I wouldn’t be that if everything was given to me in the palm of my hand.
Belma also recalled the beginning of her career with us, and we also talked about today’s media, which in their universal availability impose a large number of prejudices.
